Bootable USB creation FAIL on M4 Mac mini for macOS Sequoia 15.1

When creating a bootable USB on a M4 Mac mini the process fails giving the error below

Failed to extract AssetData/boot/Firmware/Manifests/InstallerBoot/* from update bundle

The bless of the installer disk failed.


I have tried downloading the installation app multiple times and via the terminal commands as well. Then tried multiple USB drives, and USB C directly plugged to mini. None of these attempts have worked out so far.


Please let me know if there's a workaround.

Well, the update that was released today, 15.2, seems to have fixed the issue for me at least. Created two installers, one on my M4 Pro Mini and one on ou M2 Mini - both workd successfully, no errors.

Tried a few minutes ago and it is still not working.


Ready to start.
To continue we need to erase the volume at /Volumes/macUSB.
If you wish to continue type (Y) then press return: Y
Erasing disk: 0%... 10%... 20%... 30%... 100%
Copying essential files...
Copying the macOS RecoveryOS...
Making disk bootable...
Failed to extract AssetData/boot/Firmware/Manifests/InstallerBoot/* from update bundle
The bless of the installer disk failed.
