Does restoring an older back up delete the newer back up

My iPhone 13 mini broke sadly, and it is not working for another week or so. I wanted to restore a back up to my older iPhone XR, but i saw that i could only restore the back up from a year ago, because the phone does not have the new iOS. If i restore this back up, will the newer back up be deleted, and will that make me unable to restore it when i get my new iPhone?

iPhone XR, iOS 16

You should be able to install iOS 18 on the iPhone XR (if that's the version your iPhone 13 mini uses.) Then you should be able to use the latest iPhone 13 mini back up for the XR.

I imagine you are using iCloud for backups. If so, iCloud keeps separate backups for each device. So they won't interfere.
