I have read the advice online says to to SS>>Keyboard>>Text Input and select auto correct. Auto correct option does not appear on my Mac. 15.0.1 (24A348)
Why is it so complicated to turn on?

It's not so hard to find. Just type autocorrect int he search bar on the top-left corner of System Settings:

I was running Sonoma when I took that photo.
Clicking the the Edit button should give you what is shown below. Also in each app, check Edit > Spelling and Grammar to make sure what you want is checked.
