Magic Mouse issues with macOS Sequoia 15.1.

I have recently upgraded from my old 2016 macBook Pro bought a new 2024 macBook Air M3 16GB 15 inch and after the latest upgrade I seem to be having issues with my magic mouse as it has started having a lagging issue and inconsistent movement issues. I decided to get a new magic mouse, thinking that this may solve the issues. It has not seemed to stop it or fix it.

The issue is that it seems to lag at times and disconnect every now and again. I can't believe it is due to hardware as the laptop and mouse are both new. Can anyone shine a light on what I can do to solve this. My touchpad on the macBook Air works fine. I know it is not interference as I have the same issue working in many different places.

I to am having the same problem with my Mac ever since the latest update to Sequoia 15.1. I tried two different magic mouses and both lagged and was not accurate when clicking on anything. It is getting very frustrating. I am thinking that it is a software issue and not a hardware issue since my other Macbook that has not been updated to 15.1 yet is not having these issues.

Other bluebooth devices are not having a problem, such as my keyboard, or headphones.

Any options for a fix beyond waiting for the next software update?

I have this same issue. It's absolutely a Sequoia 15.1 bug and has nothing to do with mac or hardware.

I upgraded both my personal Macbook Pro (M3 Max) and work Macbook Pro (M2 Max) to MacOS Sequoia 15.1 a few days ago. Both are exhibiting lag issues with mice and window management. I've had these computers quite some time and this has been the only change.

Proof:

After trying 3 different wired logitech gaming mice (and cables), 1 corsair wired mouse, and 1 alienware mouse, it's clear it was not a software or hardware issue. I've rebooted multiple times and experimented with different dongles and cables after being concerned that I was somehow using bad cables or oversaturating my docks and hubs.

I then discovered that both of my bluetooth Logitech MX Master mice work fine. Both the MX Master 2S and MX Master 3S have absolutely zero issues. I'm not sure how the implementation differs as I've seen others on this forum complain that their wireless mice have issues. Logitech must use special HID drivers for the MX Master series items.

Apple, please fix this asap. I miss my wired mice.

For me, that helped a bit. However, I found it still had issues selecting buttons even with magnet completely turned off.

I still had weird behaviour where the mouse would jump slightly (almost like it's trying to find a button I might want to click). Sadly, it's not accurate at all. xD. For example, if I want to change the spelling of a word in this text box while writing this message, it will jump to the end of the word rather than where I want it to click. Is this just coincidence or is something actually trying to manage my clicks? :O

It turns out that if I disabled Pointer acceleration in System preferences -> Mouse -> Advanced, I stop having issues. Sadly, I really like the way this feature used to work. Now I am stuck trying to get used to the new movement without it.

I always forget that MacOS updates aren't just security fixes, but can have drastic UX changes too. :(

Problem Solved (mostly) - Replying to myself in case it'll help others.

MacOS Sequoia introduces new native windows management capabilities. For folks using 3rd party solutions, such as Magnet or Rectangle, turn off the mouse features of the app. I was able to keep the keyboard shortcut features enabled. This immediately resolved my issue and I'm able to use my wired mice as normal.

Interference while working in many different locations.

The common denominator in this instance, could be some device that uses the 2.4 Hz band that is on your person.

An iWatch has Bluetooth, an iPhone uses Bluetooth and if too close to the Laptop could interfere with with the older and newer Apple Magic Mouse

I am also now having issues with my Apple bluetooth keyboard. It seems to be a macOS Sequoia 15.1 issue with bluetooth. This is the first issue I have had with Mac in all the time I have had a mac. I don't seem to have any issues with my phone 16 pro max or ipad pro but then again I don't connect to many bluetooth devices with them.

Since updating to 15.1 I'm experiencing the same issues with both my Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad. Intermittent stutters, inability to click for a few moments until the system catches up. It's mind numbingly frustrating as this happens every 5-10mins.

Nothing in my setup has changed other than the update to 15.1 from Sonoma. I also recently updated to 15.1.1 hoping Apple made a fix and unfortunately it's still the same behaviour.
