I run Norton 360 on my MacBook Air 2019 because of work. However, it's now asking me install the Norton App to: protect from malware in real-time; filter network content to keep safe while browsing; to scan entire disk for hidden malware and other threats; and to prevent web attacks on my computer while I am online. Does this app duplicate what my Mac and Safari already do?
You’ll need to discuss the organization’s requirements here with IT. IT can be adaptable and deeply aware of the organization’s requirements and the platforms, or sometimes IT can be run from scripts and best practices and standard procedures, or can be focused on Microsoft Windows realm, and sometimes whether or not you can get work done unfortunately may not feature anywhere in that script.
Yes, add-on anti-malware duplicates what is built into macOS.
Add-ons have a comparatively poor reputation, due to issues of stability and performance, due to not having negligible or negative benefits over the built-in security.
Some is getting more difficult to distinguish from actual malware, with some of the better-known anti-malware apps collecting personally-identified web purchasing and web browsing metadata and reselling it.

And see the Effective Defenses article, linked above.
