I've changed something on a right click menu.

To my knowledge it's always done that. In other words the dropdown menu always got wide enough to display the whole file name. It may be new behavior, but I don't recall how far back it goes.

To illustrate, hold an Option key while summoning that secondary menu. On the Mac I happen to be using right now, the menu becomes wider to accommodate "Copy <file> as Pathname" which is probably even wider than your Compress example. It remains that wide even after releasing the Option key.

As John Galt has already pointed out that's normal:

If that poses a problem just make the file names shorter.

In Apple’s world, right click is referred to as “Secondary Click”.

I am using these setting on the Trackpad to get the Secondary Menu

The ⌘ click, produces the same Secondary Sub Menu
