Mirroring Macbook Pro with M1 Studio Max Yes, but not the other way around

So that's the issue I'm having

I can mirror my 2015 Macbook Pro (Sonoma) to my M1 Studio Max

But I can't mirror my 2022 M1 Studio Max (Sequoia) to my Macbook Pro, it just does not show on my mirror device options

What I've done so far to fix this issue:

Same network, checked

Software update, checked

Supported display settings, checked

AirPlay Handoff on, checked (Macbook Pro does not show the AirPlay Receiver option it only gives the Handoff with iCloud Devices option)

I'm out of ideas

Any suggestions?

This is expected behavior.

See the AirPlay to Mac section of Continuity features and requirements for Apple devices - Apple Support , which indicates that your M1 Max Mac Studio is new enough to be an AirPlay Receiver for AirPlay to Mac … and that your 2015 MacBook Pro is too old to be one.

AirPlay from Macs to Apple TV set-top boxes was around long before AirPlay to Mac. Thus, Apple's statement that "You can AirPlay to Mac at lower video resolutions from older iPhone, iPad, and Mac models and operating systems …", and your 2015 MacBook Pro's ability to use your Mac Studio as an AirPlay display.
