I keep receiving a pop up saying "Critical failure: Data loss imminent from cup.mac-uptodate.com Click here to Backup files, contact support immediately." Scam? If so, how do I get it to stop, it happens continuously?

Scam. An immediate clue is the domain name; Apple does not use domains other than apple.com. For tips on getting it stop, take a look here:
