Can I change the order of messages in the Messages app on my iPhone SE?

I recently nearly missed a hospital message because as usual it arrives off the screen - after six messages received. There must be a way to make the last message you receive the top of the list so that it shows first, but I can't find how to do it - so easy in Mail - I must be missing something easy??

You can't change the order of messages in the Messages app. Do you have notifications enabled for Messages? If so, and you have them set for immediate delivery, you should get a notification that a new message has arrived.

Luckily I don’t get many, but I know some people get literally hundreds. To have to scroll down all that lot must be annoying.

I don't find it to be unintuitive or annoying but, not everyone has the same feelings about things that I do.

I did forgot to mention because I so rarely use it that you can go to the top of the message screen and tap on "Filters". There is an option to view only unread messages. So, if you have badges set up on Messages, the red number will always appear on the icon letting you know there are unread ones and then you can find them easily.

You can certainly let Apple know your thoughts here:

You can also ask Siri to read you your unread messages and let Siri do the scrolling, metaphorically speaking.
