neither device is showing in Bluetooth devices
also, unable to hotspot. MacBook Air sees the iPhone, but I get an error when trying to connect “Failed to enable Persona Hotspot on iPhone”

To pair a iPhone with Mac with Bluetooth isn’t longer compatible since long time because now we can use AirPlay, Airdrop, handoff and mirroring iPhone to Mac
That’s correct. Bluetooth pairing between an iphone and a computer has never been supported. It is not necessary.
