Why are my MacBook Air drivers in Sleep Mode?

I purchased a new hp printer that does not work. HP tech looked at my drivers and said that most (hundreds) are in sleep mode. How do I repair this problem?

It will help people know what to suggest if you tell us what specific model of printer you have and how you're connecting it (USB, WiFi, Ethernet?). Otherwise we can only guess.

The HP "tech", as Tim said, did not know what he/she is talking about. It's completely normal for macOS (or any other modern OS) to put processes to sleep when they're not needed. It's definitely not an indication of any problem with your system.
