This hasn't happened to me, but here's what I would do to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:
1. Restart Your Phone. Turn off your phone, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on. Sometimes a simple restart can reset your network settings.
2. Check Your SIM Card. If possible, remove your SIM card and reinsert it to make sure it’s seated correctly, or try the SIM in another phone to see if the same issue occurs. This will help you determine if the problem is with the SIM card or the phone.
3. Verify Caller ID Settings. Go to Settings > Search for Phone > Show My Caller ID (on iPhone) and make sure it’s set correctly. Now that you're there, also check My Number.
4. Update Carrier Settings. Carrier settings can impact how your phone connects to the network and displays your number. Go to Settings > General > About on your phone. If there’s a carrier update available, you’ll see a prompt to install it.
5. Reset Network Settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This won’t erase your data but will reset Wi-Fi passwords and network settings, which can help fix network issues.
6. Contact Your Carrier. Since this is often a carrier-related issue, reach out to your mobile carrier’s support team. Explain that your phone number is displaying incorrectly on outgoing calls. They might need to reset something on their end, such as your caller ID information.
If the issue persists after trying these steps, it’s most likely a network issue on your carrier’s side. They should be able to provide additional support or replace your SIM if necessary.
