iPhone 16 series power button tap to turn on

I have got an iPhone 16 pro and, unlike other iPhones, to turn the phone on, all I need to do is just tap the power button, rather than press and hold.

this is really infuriating as I require the phone to be switched off when at work, but because of this happening, even the action of putting my phone in my pocket switches it on!

was in Apple Store in Eldon Sqaure Newcastle today, and the other 16s they had were doing the same.

is there a setting that can change this or is it a fault that can be rectified with a software update?
