Transferring playlists from iTunes to Apple Music

I have just bought a new laptop and installed Apple Music on it. Having done this, my old iTunes app has virtually been wiped clean apart from Podcasts but, annoyingly, none of my old playlists have been transferred over and only a handful of the original songs and albums are showing. Both my iPhone and iPad were transferred over successfully from iTunes to Apple Music. Can anyone help please?

If you have a working iTunes library and install Apple Music it should convert everything, including all playlists. However if it hasn't worked it isn't that easy to redo the library conversion. Apple Music for Windows doesn't have features for importing or exporting libraries or playlists, or switching between libraries. It also limits iTunes to working with audiobooks and podcasts. If you uninstall Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Devices iTunes should be restored to full functionality. See Move your iTunes library to a new computer - Apple Community if you need to revisit the migration of the library from your previous computer.

Uninstall Apple Music, Apple TV and Apple Devices. Open iTunes and select Music from the media selection drop down. Are all of your playlists present and correct? If not migrate the library from your old computer again so that your entire library shows correctly. If you still want to try out Apple Music delete/rename the existing Apple Music library inside your user's Music folder and then try installing it again. It should convert the iTunes library complete with playlists. As yet I have not found any reason to use Apple Music for Windows rather than iTunes. It is still missing too many features.
