security notice text from Amazon

I received a text from Amazon stating someone from Mumbai had signed into my account and I shoukd check my account by opening the link included. It was a very peculiar combo of letters and numbers so I did not open the link. How do I know if it is legitimate?

NEVER click on the link in a message like this. NEVER call the phone number in a message like this.

Sign on to Amazon as you normally do. If there really is a problem, it will be obvious.

The chances are very very good that everything will appear to be normal. That is how you will know that the text that you received was a scam.
