Pending erase for stolen MacBook in Find My iPhone

My MacBook was stolen in April 2024. I marked it as stolen and to erase. The erase still shows as pending in Find my iphone. What do I do with this? The blacked out part is my name which I assume they can see when they turn it on. It has a password on it but I am sure they can still get into it? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

It is a scam. Your data is protected and the scammer is unable to use your computer. They want you to remove it from Find My so they can then set it up as their own. Do not remove the device. They are just trying to scare you!

When you marked it as lost, you had an option to enter a message to contact you if it was found, did you do that?

They do not have access to your Mac. As varjack paw also said, there is no SIM# on your Mac like they said they now have and jailbreaking a Mac is not a thing? That is why they are trying to get you to remove the device from Find My, so they can use your device.

You can see the person in this Support post received the same message as you did. They are standard messages scammers use to get access to your device after it is stolen.

You are most likely not going to get your Mac back, but your data is safe and they won't be able to access it.
