I ran First Aid through the Disk Utility 2x on my Samsung T5 external SSD and I received the report below both times. You'll notice in the First Aid Report below that there are quite a few lines that say, "warning: need to set bsd flags."
Is my external SSD going out (and should be replaced)?
What the First Aid feature of the Disk Utility does well is tell you the "health" of the file structures on a drive. However, it does not tell you anything about any physical issues with it.
As such, I suggest that you consider getting DriveDx to do an in-depth analysis of this drive.
FYI, SSDs do "wear out" over time. DriveDx will let you know if that is the issue ... or not.
