Tinnitus after using AirPods Pro 2

In may 2024 I bought the AirPods Pro 2. After that I’ve used them a little more than my previous headphones. During work calls and in the evening going to sleep listening to podcasts. I’ve used the Bose Quiet Comfort 700 over ear headphone with noise canceling for years. Never had a problem. My hearing is probably not the best but I’ve never had a constant beep. In the evenings at home when it’s there is no interference from office or street noise a constant very high pitched tone/beep is ringing constantly. Probably tinnitus. I quit the AirPods for an almost a week but the sound still there. I’m going to check this with a specialist for a diagnosis. As I didn’t attended special events with loud noises it’s very likely my AirPods Pro caused this.

Additionally, the noice cancelling messed me up sometimes. It works so well that I occasionally got disoriented.

If it’s caused by this apple device and my hearing doesn’t improve, it would be tragic.

Is there a way to treat tinnitus?

is this something that Apple is aware of?

This issue has come up in the past in Apple Community forums (e.g., AirPods causing tinnitus? - Apple Community). As a result, I think it's worth considering whether something in the AirPods Pro technology is at fault, as opposed to how the AirPods are being used. Having owned my AirPods Pro 2s for a little over a month, and having used them almost exclusively in noise canceling mode (and at very low volume, I would add) for watching shows on Netflix, etc. (so as not to disturb others in the room), I've developed a ringing sensation in my left ear that wasn't there before. And that never developed during the years that I used my old Powerbeats Pro earbuds. Since the Powerbeats didn't have noise cancellation, I'm wondering if there's something in Apple's form of the technology that's the culprit. All this is speculative and anecdotal, obviously, but as noted above, given the number of those who've experienced tinnitus in conjunction with using AirPods Pros, the question should at least be taken seriously rather than dismissed out of hand.
