Description of the iMac 24 includes :

but there is no Ethernet port. Not any that I can find. The sales person said it was on the power block, but alas it is not.

The base model iMac does not come with an Ethernet port on the power adapter.
It cost an additional $30 more to add Ethernet to the base model iMac, see > Blue iMac - Apple
Your options are to keep that model as is and use Wi-Fi or... take that iMac back and tell the sales person to give you the more expensive model with Ethernet built into to power adapter.

That model number corresponds to an unit which doesn't have Ethernet by default. If you custom-ordered it to include that, contact Apple; otherwise, check the store's return policy or sell it to someone else.

According to Apple, some 24-in. 2021-2024 models come with an external power adapter with a built-in Ethernet port ... but not all do. It is my understanding that only the 4-port models include the adapter with the Ethernet port.
Thank you all for your replies. I was told that information in the store. I asked if they could open the box as the description had the Ethernet port. This is an authorized Apple dealer. If I miss the Ethernet I can always buy the peripheral. The price was very attractive and I don’t feel cheated.
