Finder 'Recent' disappeared

I recently accidentally removed 'recent' from my finder preference. How can I add it back?

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 14.5

Open Finder, click Finder > Settings in the menu bar, click the Sidebar tab and make sure “Recents” is checked. If it is, uncheck it, restart your Mac and check it again.

How do I get rid of "recents" finder window? Every time I open a new finder window, there it is - recents. So if I'm in a public place and I open a new finder window, ALL kinds of stuff is there, and some stuff I don't necessarily want people to see. I don't need it, it's annoying, and I need to kill it. Recents under Favorites not working Recents (under Favorites in Finder) isn't populating with recent files but instead with old files from many months ago. I tried deleting those files. I also went to Go > Recent Folders > Clear Menu, but that also made no change. Anyone know how to fix this? On Sonoma 14.6.1 Thanks.

How do i restore the "recents" tab in Finder? Hi all, I don't know what i did but suddenly the recents folder is empty. How can i restore the default settings there? Iv'e tried creating a filter but its not working. I want to have a view of recent files/folders in chronicle order. Any idea? Thanks!
