Sequoia 15.1 Update disables scanner connection

Just updated my MacAir M2 to Sequoia 15.1, which ran without a hitch. After the install I can print, but the Canon scanner software can not establish a connection to the scanner portion of my Canon MB2720.

MacBook Air, macOS 15.1

The following method worked for my Canon MX922 printer/scanner.

On your Mac navigate to Apple menu > System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network > Canon IJscanner5.

The name of your app may be different than mine.

Slide the switch to the right to allow the app to access the Local Network.

Hope this helps you.

Check for the latest version of the Canon printer and scanner software (including drivers) that is compatible with Sequoia. Canon's site for this:

For the scanner, I suggest that you use Image Capture, Apple's built in application. Your scanner should show up if it is on the network, answer "yes" if it asks permission to access devices on your network.

I use Image Capture with my Canon MG8120 multifunction device (which has a scanner) and with my Epson Xp-820 multifunction device (includes a scanner), which date from 2011 and from 2015 and they still work great! Eventually I expect they will not be compatible with a future MacOS but for now they work great (albeit a little slowly, newer devices are much faster).
