Apple Car Play gives wrong Location w/iphone16pro & ios18.1

My navigation apps in my iPhone 16 pro with ios18.1 work ok (I live in Argentina - south Atlantic coast), but when I connect the phone to my Apple CarPlay (Ford Territory 2022) my location goes to he Equator near Africa´s Atlantic Coast!

Imposible to navigate cause the navigation apps tell me I am far away from my destination.

My Location in the iPhone (Buenos Aires - Argentina):

Wrong Location (Equator/Africa) when connected to CarPlay:

I guess this can be the following issues:

a) CarPlay update for iPhone 16 pro and iOS 18 - Does anyone knows something about this

b) Sync Nav firmware update in the car system - (Ford issue)

c) Car GPS System malfunction (Ford issue)

Please if anyone have the solution for this, please let me know.

Hello, This morning I tested the problem again with my phone and my previous iPhone 12pro with iOS 17.6 and the conclusion is not the Car GPS nor the Car´s Nav Sync App. It´s the iPhone 16 pro and/or iOS 18.

With iPhone 12 Pro and ios17.6 Both the phone and CarPlay works ok and gives correct location and navigation, while CarPlay still have the same problem with iPhone 16 pro and iOS 18.

Please see the follwing photos (apple CarPlay and gps diagnostic app)

Connected to iPhone 16 pro / iOS 18 - Location in Maps Equator Africa see coordinates too (10:29 am)

Connected to iPhone 12 pro / iOS 17.6 - Location in Maps Buenos Aires / argentina see coordinates too (10:36 am)

Please someone from Apple, please take note of this and send us an iOS update. Thanks

Apple Engineers!, I think I have just realized what is the problem...

When connected to CarPlay the program take the degrees coordinates as minutes coordinates and put 0 degrees both in latitude and longitude coordinates.

Please can you solve this bug?

I am having a similar issue with wireless CarPlay after updating an iPhone 12 to 18.1.1. I had a JVC audio system installed about 3 weeks ago, replacing the factory system in a 2014 Toyota Prius.

The navigation looses track of my exact location while using any navigation app including Waze, Google Maps, and Maps with wireless CarPlay.

If I disconnect the phone from wireless CarPlay, my location on the phone corrects itself.

This problem is making the navigation apps useless with wireless CarPlay. Also, the problem goes away if I plug the phone in to the USB port.

Hello, about a year ago I bought a Ford territory version 2024 and recently downloaded IOS 18 on my iPhone and from that moment the CarPlay GPS when connecting it to my iPhone does not work. (Waze, map, Google maps, etc). I've been reading on the internet and it seems that there is a compatibility error. I practically can't use maps in my new car. How crazy. I rule out that it's an iPhone problem because I tried it with up to an iPhone 16 and the same problem. How can you help me solve this?

i have a 2021 VW, I live in Mexico City and since the last major iOS update (18) i’ve had the same problem

when connecting my iphone (wirelessly) to my car. I’ve realized by Reading your posts that the problem is when iPhone is connected to carplay wirelessly, as soon as I connect the car using a cable the GPS location fix itself. Has anyone tried updating to iOS 18.2?

apple developers, please read all these comments and do something to fix this ASAP.

i have an iPhone 14 Pro using iOS 18.1.1.

Hi everyone. I am in touch with apple support and we have been testing the connection between my ip16pro with my CarPlay (ford territory)

They installed me an app to register all my trips.

They found some problems with some VPN apps.

We need to test the connections again.

In that process now.

if you have the possibility, I suggest you to make a call to support and give your evidence to them.
