iOS device not showing in iTunes for Windows
I'm posting this to help others that might encounter it. My issue is solved.
I recently purchased an iPod Classic that's been upgraded to 2TB. When connected to my Windows 10 PC it wouldn't show up in iTunes or Apple Music at all.
Everytime i connected it to the PC, Windows would want to format it to either NTFS or exFAT and while the iPod showed up in My Computer i couldn't access it at all. I didn't format it.
Searching online i found the link to iOS device not showing in iTunes for Wind… - Apple Community
While the information there is very detailed and easy to follow and it helped me solve my issue, but not by doing what it's mentioned there.
The last comment posted on Oct 19, 2024 3:44 PM, provided the best clue.
First of all my PC only had only iTunes and Apple TV installed so it wasn't affected by the other apps. iTunes displayed a warning that it's now just for podcasts and audio books even before asking to update it. I hadn't opened or used iTunes for several months at least. After the update it wouldn't show my music library nor it would recognise the iPod.
I downloaded Apple Music, same, iPod wouldn't show up.
Luckly that post from turingtest2 mentioned another app Apple Devices, which i didn't know about.
That app seemed to detect the ipod but since it was already connected to the pc before i installed and opened Apple Devices, it would't let me do anything with the iPod.
After disconecting and reconnecting the iPod, Apple Devices, prompted me that the iPod was formated for MAC and needs to be reformated for Windows.
After doing that it correctly recognized it as a 2TB iPod and i could transfer my music to it.
I can also access it in My Computer normally.
I couldn't comment or add to that original post, so i made this one instead.
