command-c/v not working in textfields in chrome

I cannot copy and paste from and into textfields in chrome. It does work fine in Chrome's address bar. The same applies to other browser like Brave.

Normally I run Karabiner to map command to control (because I work on many different operating systems), but it makes no difference if that is active.

Yes. I've tested Safari and Firefox as well. By now I've got ctrl-c working, and the first ctrl-v does an "end" (to end of text area), the second does an actual paste... Interesting. For some browsers (Safari, Chrome) I had to deactivate Karabiner, others work file with it enabled. How browsers without Karabiner enabled recognize ctrl-v as paste is a mystery.

Chrome: Karabiner enabled, ctrl-v does not work

Chrome: Karabiner exclude, ctrl-v = end then paste

Firefox: Karabiner enabled, ctrl-v = paste

Safari: Karabiner enabled, ctrl-v does not work

Safari: Karabiner exclude, ctrl-v = end then paste
