I have noticed that after updating to version 11, the cache remains well over 100 GB even after deleting all generated library files and render files, whereas in versions before 11, it used to go down to just a few MB after clearing. That can’t be normal, right?
It depends what you did in the application. Many other cache files like analysis files can be very large and are not part of generated files when you delete. If you don’t need these files and are using an external cache bundle simply trash it. FCP will make a new one.
Plus, an update to the app has zero to do with how large the cache is.
