apple TV Youtube app TVOS18 issues

After updating to tvos18 my YouTube app has been less than stellar.


The main issue is that I am unable to scrub through any video on YouTube.


The videos play fine. But as soon as I need to rewind or fast forward. I am unable to move the video slider.


There are multiple users on the tv. It seems to be only affecting my YouTube profile.


I have removed and signed in again. Linked my account with my phone. Erased the entire YouTube app and reinstalled.


We all signed in under our perspective YouTube profiles and still I’m the only one who can’t scrub through a video.


This is quite frustrating. So in the meantime I’ve started a new YouTube profile. Which allows me to scrub through videos.


I just hate I have to go resubscribe and retrain my algorithm.

I contacted Apple support today and they said it was an issue with YouTube itself and recommended contacting them. I then did a chat with YouTube support and they don't have any known record of this issue. They told me to report the issue through the YouTube app on the device I am having issues with, so I opened YouTube on my AppleTV, scrolled all the way down to the bottom settings button (small gear ⚙️ icon) and went to feedback. You can select “not skipping forward/backward. Then hit send.


I will update if and when I hear back from them, but I encourage everyone here to report the issue through this same steps.

Yes, I am having the same issues of not being able to skip forward/backward with the remote in YouTube app (Not YouTube TV). There is not much info on this issue, but I did come across one other person stating it only is occurring on their Premium account. Sure enough, I have a premium account as well and when I switched to a guest account, I am able to skip both directions. So apparently it is affecting only premium accounts. I cannot find a fix or much discussion on this currently. Hopefully something will be updated soon

*UPDATE*

As of 11/18/24, my YouTube is now working properly on my Premium account. As stated in my prior replies, I did send feedback through the AppleTV app. I am optimistic YouTube saw my request and fixed the issue.


Again, I encourage all to send their request through the YouTube app.


Hopefully this encourages hope for all those who are having the similar issue
