Since everyone posting here clearly lives inside the Apple bubble and has nothing but misinformation to spread, let me shed some light from the prespective of someone who has one foot in both the apple and microsoft worlds.
Yes, the ASPX extension does mean that a page uses ASP.NET. It does not imply use of a specific development tool, nor does it imply use of a database (let alone MSSQL).

Every browser deals with errors differently. Some are more forgiving. Some are more forgiving only in specific areas. What I find most curious about this issue is that a site will work fine in Safari (same version, same device model, same OS) for one user but not for another. That makes me think it's more of a style sheet issue.
If you just want to follor your fuhrer blindly and hail the iPad, post on facebook instead of a support community. If you are want to solve the problem so everyone can use your site, look at the javascript or the style sheet. Safari has some unique issues with coding errors in both.
