16.7.10 is the highest an iPhone 8 can go. If you need to use a higher version of iOS, you will need to purchase a newer phone.

• If you have an iPhone 8 or X, you can update to 16.7.10

• If you have an iPhone SE (2nd generation or later), or XR through 16, you can update to 17.7 or 18.1

An iPhone 8 plus can be updated to 16.7.10, no further

• If you have an iPhone 8 or X, you can update to 16.7.10

• If you have an iPhone SE (2nd generation or later), or XR through 16, you can update to 17.7.1 or 18.1.1

If there are future point releases of iOS 16 (e.g., a hypothetical iOS 16.7.11), you will be able to update to them, but you will never be able to update that phone to iOS 17 or higher.
