Will my debit card details through Apple Pay be compromised?

I accidentally paid a fraudulent website using apple pay but did not receive my item. My concern is, will the scammer be able to see my debit card details, even though i paid via apple pay?

I would also like to point out that i entered my debit card details into Apple Pay on the website itself, instead of going to "Wallet" and adding my debit card details.

If you entered your debit card account number, expiration date and security code on the website, you were not using Apple Pay and the scammer has all your credit card information and personal information. You would have had to use Apple Wallet with Apple Pay to have kept your information safe from scammers.

Please call the phone number on the back of the card and have the card cancelled and a new card mailed to you. You might all want to lock your credit reports with the three major credit bureaus to prevent identity theft.

You’re welcome. OK, you were entering the data into your Wallet app. The new NFC method was introduced in iOS 18 to speed the process and reduce human error.

The good news is everything of yours is safe, even though the Wallet prompted you to enter the data. I was confused when you stated you entered the data on the website, but in reality it just prompted the Wallet to respond. No foul, no harm. Rest easy and have a great weekend!

Hello! Firstly thank you so much for replying.

I did not enter my card info on the website itself. Allow me to explain what i did.

While Im on the "check out" page on the website, there was an option where i could use Apple Pay to purchase the item. However, since i have yet to link my debit card to Apple Pay, Apple prompted me to setup my card. All i did was scanned my card using my phone, just like how a RFID scanner works and that automatically captured my card number.

All i have to do next was enter my cvv and Apple will verify if i am the owner of the card by sending a verification code through SMS.

My point is, i never really entered my debit card details on the website. All i did was set up my Apple Pay on the website, instead of going to the "wallet" app and linking my card there.
