replace iPod shuffle for senior who does not an iPhone
Husband wants to lay in sun and listen to his music via ear buds. What can you suggest that does NOT require an iPhone? If Apple doesn't have a product, what can you suggest?

This forum is intended for Apple products (and it's an Apple site), so it's not the best place to discuss alternatives to Apple products.
However, that said, if your husband owns an Android phone, or an Android tablet, he can use that, although not with iTunes (the programme).
The Android phones I've seen don't have a decent music player on them, but there is a good one in the Android Play store. Look for Media Monkey. There is a companion app for Windows PCs, that works in the same way as iTunes.
Oh, and if your husband owns music purchased from the iTunes Store (which is a different thing to the iTunes programme), that music can be added to a Media Monkey library and then copied to an Android phone.
