Setting up Apple Watch for child with family sharing

Not a question anymore. I just appreciated everybody’s help and input that I felt the need to post how I resolved my issue. I concur with most who stated they were extremely frustrated with trying to figure out what was wrong with their watch and how to pair/sync their child’s watch thru family sharing. I also spent countless hours trying to troubleshoot. I spent hrs talking to apple support and getting escalated to senior support. None was helpful until I read all your suggestions. I was setting up an Apple Watch SE for my 9 y/o son. First time having an Apple iCloud acct. Followed all steps and then it got the screen that said enter user iCloud password at this point I’ve already set up a username and password. Once I entered password, the watch said “Couldn't Sync iCloud Data To continue using iCloud to sync your end-to-end encrypted data, you'll need to…” it only gave me the option on the watch to cancel or delete iCloud data, but neither option worked. The phone at this point continues to say “continue set up on Apple Watch.” I tried restarting, reset, updating both devices, opening new iCloud acct twice, syncing to mine and then switching user, everything. None worked. What ultimately worked for me was setting up a new iCloud acct, BUT the key was to go to iCloud.com and signing into acct on different device such as laptop (I have a Mac) before syncing to watch and once I was in, I logged out and then restarted watch, sync, and it allowed me to go thru all the steps and complete the set up. I hope this helps someone bc it was extremely frustrating for this mama.
