iCloud Music Library not showing all songs
Hi. Thanks for ruining my weekend.
I have 5,131 songs on my Windows 11 computer.
Foobar2000, which actually functions properly, tells me so.
I try to add these files to my Apple Music, because Apple insists on installing proprietary garbage on my system, so I have to use it to upload my music to my phone.
A couple albums don't make their way through, so I add them after the fact.
Apple Music on Windows 11 reports 5,131 tracks. Good. Functional. Surprising for Apple.
I go to the "update cloud library" button. I have clicked this around fifty times.
Apple Music on Windows pretends that it worked, but 172 songs get marked as "duplicate". (Also, why does the number that appears when dragging and dropping songs in Apple Music turn into garbled symbols? I shouldn't have to make a deciphering key to tell how many songs I have.)
I go and verify on my iPhone with a shortcut programmed to tell me how many songs I have on my phone.
It returns 5,062(!!!)
This is discongruent with the 5,131 figure, and even if I were to assume that it didn't add the 172 duplicates, that wouldn't add up to 5,062, that would add up to 4,979(!!!)
Why not just upload my MP3s onto my iCloud library?? If I have duplicates, that's my own **** problem. Stop trying to pretend you know better than your users.
