I don't want my Notes saved to iCloud but see a scary sync warning

Hi and thank you!

On my iPhone 14, iOS 18:

Settings> iCloud> Notes. I don't want my Notes on iCloud. I want to turn off "Sync this iPhone" but the warning message says "all iCloud notes will be removed from your iPhone". I have only written these Notes on my iPhone, so will my messages be deleted from my iPhone?

When I open the Notes app, to the Folders page, under the iCloud heading, the Notes Folder has zero. Under the On My iPhone heading, The notes Folder has over 100+.

I really need confirmation that my "On My iPhone" notes won't be deleted if I "unsync" my iPhone Notes from iCloud.

Hello!

Yes, your notes in "On my iPhone" are safe. The message you see only applies to notes in iCloud. If you want peace of mind, backup your iPhone before turning the setting off.
