.mbox files in Mail and/or Outlook

Hello - I have been setting up a new Mac (iMac M4) and have added my pop3 work email account to Mac Mail, my employers want me to use Outlook instead and so I have added my account through Outlook as well. I now want to remove the mbox data files from Mail Library to free up space but will this affect the data in Outlook ?

Thanks

Thanks - pop3 is not by choice, it's a remnant of old IT systems managers over the years and I don't know how to change it to IMAP, or do I just set it up again, leave my old emails as pop3 on an old Mac and reference them as and when I need them ?

You can only select IMAP if the provider has set it up that way; I̶f̶ t̶h̶e̶y̶ o̶n̶l̶y̶ o̶f̶f̶e̶r̶ P̶O̶P̶3̶, t̶h̶e̶n̶ t̶h̶e̶y̶ n̶e̶e̶d̶ t̶o̶ c̶o̶m̶e̶ i̶n̶t̶o̶ t̶h̶e̶ 2̶1̶s̶t̶ c̶e̶n̶t̶u̶r̶y̶ w̶i̶t̶h̶ t̶h̶e̶ r̶e̶s̶t̶ o̶f̶ u̶s̶ or stick with POP3!
