Thunderbolt Display glitches with M2 Mac mini

I recently bought a used thunderbolt display and hooked it up to my mac mini with m2 pro via thunderbolt2 - thunderbolt 4 converter. The display worked fine for few hours but after that I started to notice that it turns on off randomly and sometimes shows weird display lines. I was able to record it from my phone. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1fk_jdCb2Qk Not sure if its the display itself or the connector. Does anyone know about this issue and possibly guide me about how to fix this? I really liked the display, the resolution is good and the speakers and all are very convenient. any help will be appreciated

  1. In order to rule out the connector/Octopus cable issue --> get another Thunderbolt 2 cable (make sure it is Thunderbolt 2) and --> connect between M2 Mini Pro (still will need the converter/adapter) and Thunderbolt Display's free Thunderbolt port. COST: 28-50 USD (You can find some used one or open-box from the internet)

The next few scenarios can be very tasking for newbie... sit back

2. The logic board failing would also present like this.

In order to see if this is "Logic board" issue -- go to "About This Mac" --> "more info..." --> under "Hardware" then look for USB.

Locate "USB 2.0 Bus" --> "Hub"which is associated with Thunderbolt Display.

If you CAN NOT see "Hub" or intermittently --> then the Logic board is bad.

It happens quite common because the age of the device. (I believe Apple no longer support this device)

For DIY repair - there are many "how to" videos on the web.

COST: 30-50 USD (for used part) with risk of damage the display.

3. If can see the "Hub", yet the any of USB devices were missing (for me, the FaceTime Camera), then it's the power supply.

If you want to DIY repair - there are many "how to" videos on the web.

COST: 30-50 USD (for used part) with risk of damage the display.

Good luck, I hope it is the scenario #1..
