iPad Photos widget does not let me choose a specific album, but i can do this on the iPhone - why?
On my iPhone, the Photos widget lets me choose photos from a specific album. This does not appear to be possible on the iPad. Does anyone know why?

Widget? It's difficult to misunderstand something that you haven't, until now, mentioned or described. Contributors here have a lot of insight and knowledge, but we're not clairvoyant... 🙂
When initially adding the Photos Widget to my Home Screen, I see this - where I can select an Album from my Photo Library:
If an Album is not selected when adding the Widget, an Album can be selected (or changed) by a touch-and-hold (i.e. long-touch) the Widget to trigger the Menu:

I’m asking about the widget for the Photos app.
On the iPhone, the widget for the Photos app lets you display photos from a specified album.
This does not seem possible on the iPad.
Can anyone confirm this and/or explain why this is the case?
Albums are accessed from your iPad Photo Library from the Photos sidebar.
The Photos sidebar is exposed or hidden using the sidebar button at top-left of the Photos App window:
