Some Of My Applications Never End Up Loading/MacBook Doesn't Update

Hey guys, hope all is well.

I actually have 2 problems. Im guessing one of them relates to the first one.

  1. My MacBook Air just doesn't load some apps like, AssessPrep, Minecraft Education and some others. These apps aren't necessarily in my Applications folder, but that shouldn't be the problem. I used to be able to open these before but now, I don't know what's happened.
  2. Additionally, what I think is related to the issue above is that my MacBook is really out of date and CANNOT be updated. It asks me for my Administrator's Username and Password and I put exactly what I should. But it doesn't work. STRANGELY, when other things ask me for my Administrator's Username and Password, it works! But for updating it just doesn't work. I even tried logging into another Apple ID and also doesn't work.

So please help! Thanks and have a good day!

See if you can run the third party app EtreCheck. If so, then post the complete report here so we can examine it for possible clues.

You can try booting into Safe Mode to see if that makes any difference. If this works, then most likely you have an issue with some third party software that is installed on the system. If EtreCheck cannot be run when booted normally, then try it from Safe Mode.

Try booting into Recovery Mode (Command + R) and run Disk Utility First Aid on the hidden Container. Within Disk Utility you will need to click "View" and select "Show All Devices" before the hidden Container appears on the left pane of Disk Utility. Even if First Aid says everything is "Ok", click "Show Details" and scroll back through the report to see if any errors are listed. If there are errors, then run First Aid again until the errors are gone. If after several scans the errors remain, then you will need to erase the disk followed by reinstalling macOS & restoring from a backup (unless the error is within a snapshot).
