Is the new iPod classic 7th generation 256gb they are selling on eBay really apple products?

I love my old school iPods - And we live remotely enough unless I want to stream from the net we have 2 radio stations almost reach through the hills to us and I enjoy music usually 8-9 hours of the day minimum.

I've several 160gb that I have used iTunes to download and transfer music from my own CD Collection. iTunes (Apple Music) and yes I back up my songs to a remote hard drive as I've some 48K songs there!

I use them in different locations one is plugged into main stereo for most of the house and outdoor music

One in bathroom with a Bose Soundlink mini for my morning start the day tunes

And one in our little Fiat for travel tunes.

Well . . . it's a long way to anywhere from here and I know my newest classic must be some 15 -16 years old! That's a lot of hours playing between them all!

The one in the Fiat is pretty much on last leg. It will not longer reboot or reset. I audibly hear a pop when it attempts to play! And to be honest it's 150 to 250 miles round trip to anywhere and a whole heck of a lot of rough roads!

So I started looking to see if I can get a replacement device -

eBay has all these sellers touting "new" iPod 7th generations and saying even 256gb are available?

I don't understand how these are available or what they are selling?

Are these truly an Apple product? Are they actually a Apple/Solid state hybrid?

And if so might it be simpler and probably more reasonable for my to rebuild my own with solid state chip and such - As I'm hearing this is possible to do?

The 7th generation iPod touch was released on May 28, 2019 and discontinued on May 10, 2022. It had 256 GB of storage. I suspect that what you're seeing is someone selling one that was never removed fro the box. That would count as a brand new device. It is not, however, a brand new model.

It's unclear what you mean by that. iPods are a solid state device. "Solid state" means the device uses semiconductor chips, not electron tubes. Beyond that, without seeing the particular item you're looking at on eBay, it's hard to say anything about it.

While I suppose it's possible to build your own mp3 player, it wouldn't be an iPod.
