Forward delete on a 2024 Magic Keyboard and MacBook Pro

I just replaced my old Magic Keyboard with a brand new one (with Touch ID 4.1.0). Using it on a MacBook Pro (M1, 2021, macOS Sequoia 15.1.1).

I have for decades used Control-Delete to forward delete text. I cannot get that to work on the new keyboard. I reset all settings, just to be sure I didn't do something inadvertently. I tried to set it up manually, but that didn't work.

Can someone tell me how to get that function back?
