Editing a feature film in FCPX, selecting codecs

Hi FCP Community. I am editing a feature film in FCPX, and I need to decide which codec to edit in. The film is being shot on Canon, so my original media is all .CRM files. I can edit these 4K files directly with the Canon RAW Plugin. I have a Mac Studio and it's able to handle the files.

BUT. My question is - Should I transcode all my media to ProRes 422 and edit with that instead? For a big project, will performance be better with ProRes, versus having Final Cut render the CRM files in the background?

It seems to be editing the CRM files fine for now, but what about when the timeline gets huge?

What about the ease of workflow when it's time to roundtrip to DaVinci Resolve?

Mac Studio, macOS 13.7
