How Can I Stop My iPad from Changing or Correcting My Handwriting?

I’m having trouble with my iPad modifying or interfering with my handwriting when I use the Apple Pencil. For example, when I write notes or draw shapes, the iPad sometimes corrects or converts my handwriting into text, or it removes certain elements like shapes or bullet points.

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

  • Turned off Scribble in the Apple Pencil settings.
  • Disabled Auto-Correction and Predictive Text in the keyboard settings.
  • Checked the app settings (like Apple Notes) but didn’t find anything obvious to stop this behaviour.

Despite these changes, the problem persists. Is this a system-wide feature, or is it app-specific? How can I completely prevent the iPad from altering my handwritten input?

Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

When you're in the notes app, tap on the pen icon on top, should be right beside the three dots.

Once your tollbar opens, tap on the three dots, turn off Auto-refine Handwriting.
