I have two separate Apple ID accounts, my personal and a family account that has my Apple Music subscription. Im signed in on my personal account on my new MacBook Air, and I am struggling to figure out how to sign into my family account for Apple Music account or iTunes. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Accounts should not be shared. There's no reason to have a "Family account". When using Family Sharing, it should share to your personal account by adding it to the Family sharing group.

If you really must use a secondary account, open the Music App, go to the "Account" menu at the top, sign out from your personal account, and sign in with the Family account there..
