Why are Facebook comments split on my iPad Pro?

OK I think I’ve solved this mystery splitting issue. I went to settings and turned OFF the multitasking/split screen option. Went back to FB and tada no more FB comments in that partially viewable right column on the screen.

So then I went into setting again and set the Multitasking/split screen back to ON and checked…yep there was that annoying partial right column screen.

So it’s seems there’s an incompatibility with the FB app and the Apple Split screen functionality.

Sure hope they fix it, but for now I’m not using the Split Screen option on my iPad.

Try and force quit the Facebook app (swipe up on your iPad, swipe Facebook up in the app screen)

to see if the issues persist. You can also try to use Facebook in the browser instead

I have the same issue. Reverting to portrait view corrects it but when holding the iPad in landscape view it produces two columns with the one on the right only being half visible on the screen.

Same here. I’ve researched high and low…this is the 1st forum I’ve found that talks about this problem. I think it all started with IOS 18.1 or 18.1.1. I'm guessing it thinks FB in landscape mode should be 2 columns wide, but sa people point out the right hand column only displays about 80% of its width.

Portrait mode on iPad is fine….its either Apple or FB that have some piece of code that’s trying to fill the screen on landscape. Hope they fix it soon.

Same thing happening to me on the iPad Pro. I have found that sometimes if I swipe the left column to the right column, it reverts back to the original post and when I open comments again, there is one column. But this doesn’t work all the time. Yes, it is annoying. I hope someone finds a solution.

Sorry but I guess on/off on multitasking actually doesn’t solve this. A bit more testing and it seems that somehow it’s a positional thing. It’s where the post is positioned vertically on your screen when you click on comments that seems to determine whether you get the 2 column effect or not. So back to the drawing board…

im back to thinking it’s something that FB has done. But it sure is annoying and the the fact that it has to do with where you have scrolled to on the post is why it’s seemingly random…and even on the same post.

I’d love to know the answer to this problem. It doesn’t happen to all my Facebook comments but often enough to drive me mad.

This very same issue started for me about two weeks ago as well. Did this just started happening to you recently as well?

Yes, same here about two to three weeks ago this started happening.

OK so you have the best solution so far. Yes the swipe left seems to do the temporary fix….until next time you open a comment.
