Unlocking a disabled iPad without password or Apple ID

I was given an ipad by a family member so I could unlock it. No one knows the password or apple id and it has sat disabled for over a year. Is their a way to unlock it without either of those? The family member runs a Airbnb in Hawaii and a previous guest left it there. They decided to try unlocking it and ended up getting it disabled. They then gave it to me to try to unlock it.

The passcode can be reset.

Activation Lock, however, is intended as a theft deterrent, and is more difficult to bypass. We can’t help, and — absent sufficiently-convincing proof of ownership — Apple won’t.

You’ll need the credentials to the Apple Account, or the original purchase receipt from Apple or from an Apple authorized reseller and a discussion with Apple.

Otherwise, it’ll remain a brick.
