iphone 12 stopped charging after iOS 18.1.1 update

I was starting to get so frustrated and starting to lose hope. Then came across your comment, turning off ‘Optimised Battery Charging’ did the trick for me.

Sometimes my iPhone 12 mini failed to connect properly to its MagSafe charging pad. In those cases, powering the phone completely off, then back on, cleared the glitch.

This happened on versions of iOS prior to iOS 18, and as far as I know, the phone did not repeatedly cycle between connecting and not connecting - it just failed to connect when expected, and then the next morning, I discovered it had a very low charge instead of the expected 100% one.

But you might try power-cycling your phone when this happens to see if by chance it helps.

My ipad pro 5th gen isn't working either after the update. i've tried every outlet, charger, safe cleaning method possible, and it still doesn't work. it charged perfectly fine the whole day before. I contacted an apple agent as well but they assured me there's nothing wrong with my ipad, even though there is.

Same on my iPhone 14 Stopped charging correctly after updating to 18.1.1. No issues until that. Tried new cables and have been using the mag chargers since it was new. So I know the port is not worn out. Apple fail again.

I just ran into this issue today with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. My 9th gen iPad also updated. Only off brand chargers work on my iPad now, and wireless chargers on my phone. Apple car play still works thankfully. I got off the phone with apple support because they claim it’s a hardware issue. How? Both devices in the same day? Impossible. It’s still charging in my car without issues so it’s clearly not. I’m 600 miles away from the nearest Apple Store and they want me to ship it. A phone I’m still paying for! All my Apple brand charges work just fine on my AirPods and watch, and my SO’s phone who didn’t update. I’m SOL because I can’t uninstall it now. I didn’t even remember agreeing to updating my phone, just my iPad. It was charging and it shut off and came back on with the update. The chat support was more understanding but the people on the phone were irritating.

I didn't even do the update and my phone is acting crazy. It is hanging at 1% charged and keeps going on and off. The battery life just depleted all of a sudden. There has to be an issue with Apple today.

Same issue with iPad Air 5th Gen. says not charging, with two different cables and using a USB charger and an iMac as the power source. I noticed this after the power unexpectedly cut after a few hours use.

Since updating to iOS 18.1.1 my iPhone X has been having consistent issues with charging via cable. It happens when I use Apple cables as well as others. It occurred the day after the update, and I didn't have problems before this. Its so frustrating

I travelled from the UK to Mexico today, only to spend 5 hours extra in the airport because my phone wouldn’t turn on to do things I needed like find my air bnb, transfer money, all sorts of stuff. It’s actually enraged me. I’m surprised to see so many others reporting the same though

I’m having a similar issue too. I have the 16 pro max and couple nights ago my phone randomly stopped recognising the charging lead when I plugged it in. I rebooted my phone then it worked. Happened again last night and tonight. Plugged in lead, phone doesn’t recognise it and won’t charge, reboot phone then it works fine.

I did too and it resolved some of it but even with an authentic apple charger it still charges slow. The least I have use of my device which connects to my continuous glucose monitor. I hear there another update coming and I’m terrified to make things worse.

I’m a little late to this post so I wonder if anyone has found a solution? I did not update my 11 dinosaur yet, but my husband did (11 pro max). We are both having exact same issues, including an iPad that also hasn’t been updated yet. (I try to put off the update hoping to bypass the bugs and skip to the sorta fixed version, this never works). I have a dear friend who is always referring to “planned obsolescence” and always think I can out stubborn the big corps. I still wonder how many people have these charging issues and go ahead and upgrade 🤑. (this often happens to me for a couple weeks when new update is installed…yet they got me anyway cause I didn’t update yet)

I’m still not able to charge using my accessories even after the 18.3.1 update. This may be my last iPhone. I really don’t want to go back to Android, but I can honestly say that I didn’t have charging issues after updating nor voice dictation fiascos with Android.

The same for me on my iPhone 13 Pro. I can only charge wirelessly. Before the update I had no issues. This is unacceptable Apple!
