How does apple pencil usb-c work work and what about the battery?

lately i have been trying to decide whether I should get the apple pencil pro or the usb-c. Im not planning to use it for drawing. Just for note taking or some quick sketches or math problem solving. And i dont even think im gonna use it every day. My main concern is that the usb-c version doesnt pair and charge with the ipad magnetically. Will this actually be a problem? Actually, how does the usb-c work at all? Do i need to plug it on my ipad via a cable every time i wanna use it? Does it always stays connected? How long does it last if im not using it every day?

what i wanna avoid is having to search for a cable at the middle of the night just so i can draw something quickly for 1 minute. Also csn it charge from the same cable im using to charge my ipad that is connected to the wall?

iPad Air, iPadOS 18

Let's start with which exact model is your iPad Air? At this point, we can only assume that it is a M2 iPad Air 11- or 13-inch model. Is one of those correct?

Generally, based on your use requirements, the Apple Pencil (USB-C) would be a better fit.

When it comes to charging:

The Apple Pencil Pro pairs and charges wirelessly when magnetically attached to compatible iPads; whereas, the USB-C Pencil requires a USB-C cable for both pairing & charging.

The battery charge life will depend on how much you use it at any given point in time. Apple says it should last 11 hours.
