So, thanks all for the responses; I was able to sign a new SSL certification for the printer using the HP app on my phone, I wish I had taken a screen shot-it was quite hidden. After finding the page and info, I was able to sign an encryption certificate good for ten years....I think HP does this so you think your printer is broken and need to buy a new one. The tech support at HP told me I had a virus in my drives, that they had never heard of this problem before!!!!!! -I can't be the only person this happened to, they should know how to fix this. Once I found the information page it took me under 5 minutes to fix it. UGH!

HP Support – HP printers - 'Encryption Credentials Expired' error (macOS, iOS)

HP's proposed "solution" is to use a computer running Windows to update the self-signed certificate in the printer. It's hard to believe, but apparently HP provides no way of doing this on a computer running macOS!

EDIT: I spoke too soon. Although the text on the Support page implies that you need a Windows-based computer, the video on the page describes a way to update the printer using a Mac.

super frustrated with HP support....

If I was even a little frustrated, I would sell or recycle the HP printer and get an Epson or Brother printer.
