Dual-SIM quick calls use wrong SIM

Hi all,

I’m not sure if this is a bug or a feature, but if I make a FaceTime call from the call log, it uses the wrong SIM card to call.

The phone is an iPhone 14 and running iOS18.1. I have two SIMs installed, an external for work and eSIM for personal. In settings I have set my personal as the default. If I call someone by making a new call to a new person, the default number is correct and there are no issues. If I then proceed to call the same person again using the call log, my phone will call from the work number, even if the last used and default numbers are my personal one. Last night my partner called my from an iPhone 12 Pro with a similar setup, and the same thing happened. She used the call log to call me, which then meant that I got the call from her work number.

Anyways, is this a known bug or could I have some setting on that enables this kind of behaviour? For the record, I have my mobile data set to use the work number, but changing this to personal doesn’t seem to affect anything.

However, the feature on an iPhone is as follows based on the way you are trying to call.

Watch the GIF below to change the Voice line. This has to be done each time you receive a call and want to call back from another line other than through which it was received.

Alternatively, you may change the Voice line to be used under Contacts. And dial using contacts and not using the Recent call list.

While making a fresh call using dial pad.

There is a difference between "Last Used" and "Always Use"

"Last Used" : This is waht the Contact has used for contacting you. You can immediately call back from the same number where the call was received from the Phone App > Recents Tab

"Always Use" : This is what you want to use while making a call. Open the Contacts App and Open a Contact and Tap Call. Now it will use your default number.

Normally...
