PLEASE add a way to turn off typing indicators for RCS messaging

I'm now on 18.1.1 and can use RCS, which is great, but now all my Android friends see the bubble where I'm typing. I do not want the typing indicators to be on for anyone. Can you PLEASE add the ability to turn this off? I don't see anywhere to do this even though I have seen some articles say to just toggle off "Typing indicators". No such setting exists.

For the first thing, this is not a feature you can do on iOS at all or, as far as I know, Android (I could be wrong about that). To let Apple know about your idea, submit a feature request on the Messages feedback page.

Also, just letting you know, feedback really works. The Send Later feature in Messages was added this year because of people sending in their feedback. Cycling in Maps was added because of user feedback. If enough people send in feedback, it will definitely get Apple’s attention.

Note that Send Later is only an imessage function, so they've locked Apple users to that feature. RCS needs more attention in future updates, they need to allow us to turn off typing indicators and read receipts but leave RCS enabled.

I have some contacts losing RCS connection to my iphone, some it's intermittent, and all of them show messages status changing to SMS immediately after a text is sent then changing back to RCS.

Seriously, I don't know why this hasn't always been an option. Like sometimes you start responding but can't finish, or realize there's something else to talk about, so you stop. They other person just sees you saw you started to reply but didn't. It's like having permanent "read" indicators. Which is idiotic.
