In this iPhone photo, part of the wall of the building is lighter in color. In reality, however, this building was evenly lit, so without those artificial lighter areas. This phenomenon can only be seen when I view the photo on my iPhone in the iPhone photo app. When I view the same photo on the PC in iCloud, that lighter area is not there. Does anyone have an idea how those lighter spots arise? And what can be done about it?

Thanks Jeff. I’ve switched off HDR and now the highlights have disappeared. So the HDR function does not always do it’s job correctly on my iPhone 13. I’m using the HEIF format.

Never mind. I thought it was a camera setting. It's a setting for Photos to turn off View Full HDR.
It could be a function of the camera when it adjusts images using computational photography (AI). If you have HDR switched on, please turn it off.
What format are you using HEIF, JPEG (Most Compatible) or Raw?
Thanks. On my iPhone 13 there is an option to turn off full HDR experience which I now did. The strange highlights have disappeared.

The author has an iPhone 13. Correct me if I'm wrong, but since iPhone 13, HDR is not something you can turn on and off. It's on by default.

The app or screen being viewed on my not support HDR, so the picture may have odd highlights. When viewed on compatible monitor it looks normal but with increased detail in the highlights.
